HOW TO PREPARE STEWED BEEF
Having the best stewed beef will make you enjoy your meal.. I have a secret ingredient ...Please follow the steps and stay intact...You can also make this at the comfort of your home..
This serves a whole family.
Ingredients
2 kgs of beef
2 medium -sized onions
2 medium-sized green capsicum (hoho)
1 whole garlic
1/2 piece of ginger
1 tablespoon of Royco powder
1 bunch of corriander (dhania)
1 tablespoon of garam masala (optional)
Steps
1. Using a mortar and pestle ground the garlic and ginger separately.
2. Divide the garlic into two portions.
3. Cut the meat into cubes.
4. Marinate the meat with the first portion of garlic and the whole grounded ginger.
5. let it set for 45 mins to 1 hour.
6. After one hour, put the marinated meat into a sufuria and bring to boil. (do not put water into the marinated meat as the meat has its own water.)
7. Cut the vegetables which are onions and green capsicum.
8. When the water is finished, check if the meat is well cooked if not add 1/2 cup of water and let it boil. (you can let the meat remain with the stock/meat soup or let the water get finished).
9. Pour the meat into a bowl and if you opted to remain with the stock put the stock aside.
10. I opted to use the same sufuria, Put the cut onions in the sufuria and cook them until golden brown.
11. Add the second portion of garlic and stir lightly.
12.Add the green capsicum and the tablespoon of garam masala and stir lightly.
13. Add the boiled meat and add some water or the meat soup and cover..Do not stir. This is to allow the hoho to cook and become soft.
14. Mix the royco powder with some water and pour into the sufuria.
15. Put the dhania and stir.
16. Serve hot with your preferred accompaniment either rice, chapati or ugali.
i know you are probably wondering why i did not cook the beef with tomatoes. i believe that the tomatoes make the meat to loose its taste.. if you try out this recipe it makes a whole lot of difference.
My secret ingredient is garlic..it improves the appearance, makes the stew thick and adds flavor to the food.
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!
